These are just some of the lucky pets who have found forever homes through the ACL. We hope you enjoy our website and encourage you to help our current residents anyway you can.

Offsite Adoption Information
Adoption procedure:
In order to begin the adoption procedure, a questionnaire needs to be completed. The questionnaire can be printed out from the website or is available at the shelter. An adoption counselor will review the questionnaire with you and discuss shelter requirements and procedures. If approved, you can then interact with the pet of your choice.
The Animal Care League has many animals for adoption. Listed below are our adoption guidelines, hours and adoption fees.
Guidelines
Please understand that when you adopt an animal from the ACL, you are not "paying" for that animal. You are paying for all of the time, effort, medical care and behavioral evaluation that is given to that animal so that he/she can become a healthy, happy family member. Puppies and kittens especially require lots of attention from early socializing to foster family care to frequent vaccinations. The medical attention provided to each animal includes spaying/neutering, microchipping and vaccinations which cost well over $300 at a private veterinarian.

Guidelines
- All adopters must be 21 years old to adopt an animal from the ACL
- All family members must visit with an animal before it can be adopted. This may be done at different visits to the shelter, but all members must come to meet a particular animal before it can go home.
- All animals are spay/neutered, dewormed, receive distemper and rabies vaccinations and microchipped. If an animal has not been spayed/neutered or received its vaccinations at the time of adoption, the shelter may hold the animal until these services are performed or the adoption can be completed with a monetary deposit which will be returned after the services are completed. The decision of whether or not to send an animal home is the sole discretion of the Animal Care League. Decisions will be made based on the animals best interest.
- Adoptors who rent their home must produce a copy of their lease agreement stating that the species and/or breed of animal they are looking to adopt is allowed in their home or a landlord's phone number may be given to shelter staff in lieu of the lease.
- While animals may be visited with up to closing time, adoptions cannot be completed within 1/2 hour of when the shelter closes. Adoptors should give themselves a minimum of forty-five minutes to visit with the animals and complete the adoption process.

Offsite Adoptions
In order to better serve the communities that support us and, in turn, better serve our animals by increasing their exposure, the ACL takes some of its adoptable pets to offsite events virtually every weekend. Some locations we visit every week, while others we attend only when an event is taking place. Listed below are the upcoming locations where we will have some of our animals for adoption. Because we adopt animals at the shelter during the week, we won't know until just before each event which animals will be present.
