Looking to Adopt? Here's how!
To begin the adoption process, we will ask you to complete an Adoption Questionnaire. This will give our staff a starting point to help you find your new pet. This questionnaire can be completed at the shelter, or you can print a copy from this website and bring it with when you visit. An adoption counselor will review the questionnaire with you and help determine animals who may be a great fit for you. Once approved, our staff will provide lots of time for you to interact with potential adoption candidates for your home.
The Animal Care League has many wonderful companion animals for adoption. Sometimes just the right fit is here when you first visit; other times you may need to come back a time or two before you find the companion who has been just waiting to meet you!

Guidelines
- Adopters are required to be 21 years of age or older
- All individuals who will reside with the animal are required to meet the animal before the adoption can be finalized. Different members of the family may come at different times, however everyone who will be living with the animal must meet the animal prior to finalizing any adoption.
- Cats and dogs are spay/neutered, receive distemper and rabies vaccinations and are microchipped. The decision of whether or not to send an animal home is the sole discretion of the Animal Care League. Decisions will be made based on the animals best interest.
- Adopters who rent their home must produce a copy of their lease agreement stating that the species and/or breed of animal they are looking to adopt is allowed in their home or a landlord's phone number may be given to shelter staff in lieu of the lease. Condo/Townhouse residents are asked to provide a copy of the association's by-laws indicating the animal will be allowed.
