The Animal Care League’s
Capital Campaign
The Animal Care League is celebrating 40 years of helping homeless animals. We would love your help in giving a birthday gift to the more than 1,000 animals that depend on our help annually.
The building we call home is over 70-years-old and badly needs some help itself. In helping us make the necessary upgrades to our shelter, you will be giving the gift of a better life for every dog, cat, bunny and other feathered, scaled or furry creature that passes through our doors. Just one example of whom you will be helping is Dharma, a sick momma cat who was found in an alley with her litter of kittens. Unable to feed her young kits, she went to our clinic, while her babies went into foster care to be bottle fed. Severely dehydrated, our clinic staff began to treat her and immediately put her on fluids. She was able to rest and over time and she was nursed back to health.
But even expert medical care can’t quickly cure an animal that has lost its ability to trust. Being wary of people, Dharma spent a lot of her time crouched in the back of her cage or in a corner of an adoption suite. Her timidity had its own price tag: Dharma was at the shelter more than 255 days before she found her new family. Quiet, respectful volunteers, watchful and experienced shelter employees invested the most prized gifts of love and attention to coax her out of her shell.

On March 12, 2013, Dharma was adopted and found that loving family that saw what we had all along. And this story would not have been possible without the help of supporters such as yourself who want to see a better life for all of these wonderful animals.
