Animal Care League Internship Program provides unique opportunities for individuals interested in gaining experience in the non-profit sector. This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate your understanding and knowledge of work not just in an animal sheltering environment,
but also non-profit organizations in general.
ACL offers unpaid internships for individuals seeking academic credit, and operate within the guidelines of each university. Duties can be tailored to fit into different educational majors and requirements as much as is practically possible. Animal Care League staff can provide mentorship to students in their professional capacities and give students hands-on exposure to a non-profit organization. We strive to create an environment for our interns that fosters ethics, learning, and development.

ADMINISTRATIVE/DEVELOPMENT INTERN
The role of the Administrative/Development Intern is to provide support to the Executive Director and Programs & Development Manager. Development Interns can expect to learn a great deal about non-profit fundraising efforts, event planning, donor relations, and other essential workplace skills.
Administrative/Development Interns will engage in a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:
General Requirements:
Administrative/Development Interns must commit to a minimum of 8-15 hours per week for a 4-6 month period. Interns will be placed on a set, weekly schedule that will offer flexibility for their class schedules. The role of the Administrative/Development Intern is to provide support to the Executive Director and Programs & Development Manager. Development Interns can expect to learn a great deal about non-profit fundraising efforts, event planning, donor relations, and other essential workplace skills.

- Assist in the planning of fundraising/offsite adoption events
- Solicit donors and sponsors for events
- Assist with monthly donor newsletter
- Manage donor records, receipts, and projects
- Support at fundraising events
- Other miscellaneous administrative functions as seen fit
General Requirements:
- Positive attitude
- Proactive; detail-oriented; conscientious; organized
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal instructions
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity
- Complete projects in a timely manner with little direction
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure
- Strong passion for animals is encouraged
- Interns must conduct themselves in a professional manner consistent with the company handbook
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle a plus

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN
The role of the Graphic Design Intern is to provide support to the Executive Director. Graphic Design Interns can expect to learn a great deal about non-profit marketing, communication, and organization.

The role of the Graphic Design Intern is to provide support to the Executive Director. Graphic Design Interns can expect to learn a great deal about non-profit marketing, communication, and organization.
Graphic Design Interns will engage in a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Design brochures for various ACL programs
- Update ACL and 2nd Chance Shop brochures
- Manage website and social media campaigns
- Assist with special event marketing
General Requirements:
- Positive attitude
- Able to take concepts/ideas/key messages and communicate them graphically
- Solid understanding of page layout concepts/ability to do page layout in addition to graphic design
- Solid understanding of project timelines and flow with an ability to meet deadlines
- Solid understanding of branding, ability to keep a message cohesive among different pieces of a project
- Ability to work independently on projects
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once/multi-task.
- Experience with web design/function a major plus!

Social Media/Marketing Interns can expect to learn a great deal about non-profit and retail marketing, communication, and organization.
Social Media Interns will engage in a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to:
General Requirements:
Social Media/Marketing Interns must commit to a minimum of 5-10 hours per week for a 4-5 month period. Interns will be placed on a set, weekly schedule that will offer flexibility for their class schedules. - Researching other businesses’ social media pages for the 2nd Chance Shop to engage with
- Managing and responding to comments, messages, and other social media interactions
General Requirements:

- Strong understanding of social media and marketing concepts

- Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal instructions
- Ability to complete projects in a timely manner with little direction
- Photography skills a plus!
