The Animal Care League is participating in a very unique adoption event geared towards saving the lives of over 100 dogs in a single weekend. This is a joint adoption event with TAILS Humane Society and is sponsored by the PetCo Foundation.
The Animal Care League and TAILS Humane Society were contacted by several rural counties in Oklahoma for help with their drastic overpopulation of medium to large sized adult dogs. ACL Executive Director, Tom VanWinkle, spent three days in these areas meeting the dogs. In order to help, 150 to 200 dogs are being transported to the Chicagoland area for a special adoption event on October 27th and 28th.
This mega adoption event will be held simultaneously at the PetCo Stores in Elmhurst and Schaumburg from 10 AM to 5 PM each day. Our hopes are to get all of the dogs adopted during this weekend. Dogs that are not adopted during the event will be incorporated in the Animal Care League and TAILS Humane Society’s regular adoption program.
All dogs have been temperament tested, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped.
Those unable to adopt are encouraged to support this event by donating to help with our efforts.
